2019-2020 Advisory: Feb. 4

Electives Fair Prep and Presentation!

202020 Reading challenge

20-20-20 Reading Challenge

Bring your own book to advisory or use the choice board to select what you want to read

Did you know that reading just 20 minutes a day can help reduce stress and improve your
memory? It also helps enhance your focus, widen your vocabulary, and expands writing skills.

During the 3rd quarter, we have a school goal of reading for 202,020 minutes—this equates to
over 140 days of reading! Each advisory will be challenged to collectively read for 2,020
minutes (or more) from January 29-April 3. Advisory teachers will record and submit student
minutes each week. Once your class reaches 2,020 minutes, you will be entered to win a
tasty treat!

What are the benefits of independent reading?

  • You have the freedom to choose!
  • More engagement
  • Reading about topics that interest you
  • Expand your knowledge about world news, hot topics, and/or trending ideas
  • Have fun!

Advisors:

Use the 20-20-20 Reading Challenge Tracking form linked in the daily email sent out by Dr. Sikes-Thurston to send us your reading minute tallies so your advisory can:

  • be eligible for tasty treats
  • help us reach our school wide goal of 202,020 minutes of reading in the 3rd quarter.

2,020 minutes / Advisory

202,020 minutes / School wide = 140 days of reading!
