Today's Portrait of a Graduate skill |
|
Goal-Directed and Resilient Individual:
- I understand my areas of academic and personal strength as well as challenges, and I use that knowledge to achieve goals by employing appropriate strategies.
|
Grade check-up lesson objective:
- Monitor academic progress and set goals.
- Check FCPS gmail account to make note of important information sent by email.
|
Students:
-
Make a copy of the Semester 2: Grade Check Up, rename it (with your name) and move it to your Advisory folder in Google drive
-
In another tab or on your phone, open StudentVUE.
-
Look up your 2nd quarter and 1st semester grades to complete the 1st Semester Overview table.
-
Set up the Semester 2 Classes table and record your current grades.
-
Check your FCPS email - make note of any important due dates or announcements
-
Take a moment to reflect:
-
Are you doing as well in every class as you want to be?
- If you have even one class that you'd like to make improvements, make a commitment to improve that grade.
-
Examples could be:
-
See my teacher on a specific date to get extra help.
-
Work with a friend during Lancer Time who is in the same class as me.
-
Make up specific missing assignments
-
Retake a test
-
If you are not sure what you should do, ask a class mate or your advisory teacher for help with ideas. Use the remainder of time to actively work on your improvement plan.
-
You could email your teacher to set up a tutoring session.
-
Print out missing assignments.
-
Finish missing homework.
-
Study for an upcoming test.
-
If you have a 100% in all of your classes, your plan might be to continue doing what you do! Good job!
|
Teachers:
-
If needed, help students locate the Grade Check Up doc in Google drive and log in to StudentVUE.
-
Circulate and give them suggestions for how to improve their grades in certain classes.
-
Encourage them to connect with their teachers (maybe by emailing them at the time) and set up a plan for improvement.
-
If students are missing a lot of work, help them create a manageable calendar and plan to make some of it up.
-
Do all of the good teachery stuff you do every day!
