SSR: Sustained Silent Reading (15 minutes)

Discussion questions:

March: Book One is dedicated to the “Children of the Movement”.  

  • What does this mean?  
  • Who are the children of the movement?  
  • What movement is the author referencing?  
  • Discuss.
  • We would  it if you would take pictures and tweet about our One Book program.  
  • Please use #LeeHSReads and/or #MarchwithLeeHS and include @repjohnlewis in your tweets.

Extension Activity: Have a Silent Discussion with your class.  

  • Teacher posts topics/questions around the room and students must contribute ideas (bullet points) without speaking with one another.  
  • After each student makes a point at each topic, debrief and discuss as a class.
  • (Example bullet points for Silent Discussion- equal rights for all; diversity; racism)
