Class Activity
SSR: Sustained Silent Reading (15 minutes)
Discussion questions:
March: Book One is dedicated to the “Children of the Movement”.
- What does this mean?
- Who are the children of the movement?
- What movement is the author referencing?
- Discuss.
- We would
it if you would take pictures and tweet about our One Book program.
- Please use #LeeHSReads and/or #MarchwithLeeHS and include @repjohnlewis in your tweets.
Extension Activity: Have a Silent Discussion with your class.
- Teacher posts topics/questions around the room and students must contribute ideas (bullet points) without speaking with one another.
- After each student makes a point at each topic, debrief and discuss as a class.
- (Example bullet points for Silent Discussion- equal rights for all; diversity; racism)
