Today's agenda

Teachers:

  • Present students with their copy of March
  • Have students write their name on the name plate sticker already on the back of the book
  • Work through the “How to Read a Comic Book” reference sheet and discuss the various parts of a graphic novel.
  • We would  it if you would take pictures and tweet about our One Book program.  
  • Please use #LeeHSReads and/or #MarchwithLeeHS and include @repjohnlewis in your tweets.

Class Activity

  • As a class, read pages 5-9 together.  
  • Students can then use their “How to Read a Comic Book” reference sheet to break down pgs. 5-9.
  • Discuss the events together as a class.

** Collect the books at the end of this activity - so everyone will have their copy of March for Friday's Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) time 

Extension Activity

  • Have students practice panel storytelling by depicting their day or a major event in their life with pictures, words, captions, speech bubbles, and/or thought balloons.
  • Students can share their work with their classmates via Google classroom or discussion.
