The form allows a student to cite the AI tool itself, or to cite a specific prompt/output.

How do I cite AI?

Common elements to look for include:     

  • URL
  • Date of AI response/output
  • Prompt (as entered to generate AI response)
  • AI tool (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.)
  • Publisher

 

MLA: "Text of prompt" prompt. AI Tool, Publisher, date viewed, URL.

Example: 

"How do I cite AI?" prompt. Gemini, Google, 16 September 2025, gemini.google.com/app/adc1e04dbc965438.
