About the Library

The mission of the John R. Lewis High School Library is to ensure that students and staff are effective and ethical users of ideas and information. Students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, and skillful researchers.

Library Basics

When can I come to the library?

  • Before school
  • During class, with a pass from your teacher
  • During your lunch period, with a library pass
  • After the Lancer Time switch, with a library pass
  • After school

 

Hours:

      Mon          7:30- 3:30pm

      Tues         7:30- 3:30pm

      Wed          7:30- 4:30pm (late bus day)

      Thurs        7:30- 3:30pm

      Fri             7:30- 3:15pm

Expectations when in the library

  • NO CELL PHONES!
  • No food and drinks must be covered
  • Sign in and out at the circulation desk (with Ms.Wilson)
  • Please be respectful of others when using the library space

Lunchtime

  • A library pass is required!
    • Students can get lunch passes in the library, before the 1st bell
    • If you are unable to get to the library before school please talk to Ms. Wilson 
  • Students may only be in the library during their lunch period
  • No food or cell phone use in the library

Lancer Time (after the switch)

  • A library pass is required!
    • Students can get lunch passes in the library, before the 1st bell
    • If you are unable to get to the library before school please talk to Ms. Wilson 
  • You are required to stay in the library for the remainder of Lancer Time
  • Games, puzzles, and other activities are available, as well as a quiet study room
  • NO CELL PHONES! 

Student Printing:

  • Students may print school materials in black and white, in the library for free
    • Students are required to put in their Student ID number and a create a pin; see Ms.Wilson for help when first printing
  • Color printing is available, for 25¢ per page. 
    • To print in color you must ask Ms. Wilson or one of the librarians for assistance.

 

The John R. Lewis High School Library (formerly Lee High School) is honored to have been named the 2018 National School Library Program of the Year.  

Checkouts, renewals, & overdue books:
  • Checkouts are for 3 weeks
  • Books can be renewed as many times as needed, unless another student has placed a hold on the book
    • Email Ms.Wilson (kjwilson@fcps.edu) or come ot the library for help

  • There is no limit to the number of books you may check out, please be thoughtful & respectful of our community
    • Check out what you need
    • Consider what you can be responsible for taking care of and returning on time
    • Materials will be marked as lost 30 days after the due date. Students will be charged a replacement fee for lost library materials.
