How can I as a member of the community influence citizens and lawmakers to help immigrants?

Immigration Vocabulary

Asylum (noun) protection given to people when they immigrate, especially refugees

Border (noun) a boundary line, especially of a country or state

 

Citizen (noun) a person who owes allegiance to a government, has complete rights in the government, and is protected by the government

Deport (verb) to force a person who is not a citizen to leave a country

Deportation (noun) the process of being deported

Illegal Immigrant (noun) a person who has settled in a country without permission, also known as an Undocumented Immigrant

Immigrant (noun) a person who moves to a country with plans live there permanently

Immigrate (verb) to move to a foreign country with plans live there permanently

 

Immigration (noun) the process of moving to a new country with plans to live there permanently

Refugee (noun) a person who flees to a new place for safety, especially to a foreign country

Sanctuary (noun) a place that provides shelter or protection

Undocumented Immigrant (noun) a person who has settled in a country without permission, also known as an Illegal Immigrant

Visa (noun) a mark on a passport or other document that gives permission to an immigrant or refugee to be in the country
