  Lesson Description:

  Students will:

  • Honor a veteran in their life or community
  • Gain an understanding of today's veterans' experiences 
  • Reflect on the purpose of Veterans Day

Veterans Day Lesson Agenda 

Part 1: Honor a Veteran (Prior to Veterans Day)

  • All students, faculty, and staff of Lee High School are invited to honor a veteran in their life by filling out this Google form
  • These veterans will be celebrated on a Veterans Wall of Honor. 
  • Want to add a picture of your vet from your phone? Use the QR code below and upload a pic!

Part 2: Choice Board

  • November 8 & 11, students will explore stories of current veterans.
  • All students read "Why Did Veterans Day Start?" (red box in the choice board).
  • Select and read a 2nd article that interests you.
  • Questions to ask as you read
    • How has the way we honor our veterans changed over time?
  • If time allows, students can explore more than one story. 

Part 3: Reflection

  • Students will complete provided exit slip
