US History Lee: Overview

How should we remember Robert E. Lee?

Civil War battlefield artillery, Antietam

Introduction to the assignment

Throughout United States history, Robert E. Lee has been heralded as the 'Marble Man' for his guiding principles and talents on and off the battlefield.  However, as time has gone on, Americans have started to question both the integrity of this important man and his significance for us today.  Over the next few weeks, you all will be investigating Robert E. Lee for yourselves as you try to answer the question, "How should we remember Robert E. Lee?"

In order to properly answer this important question, you all will need to produce a research paper.  A research paper is very similar to our previous writing assignments but with more freedoms and more expectations.  Doing research carefully and writing it clearly are hard work.  But with proper planning and our help, you can produce something you will be proud of in years to come.  Proper research is one of the most important skills you can learn in high school to help you reach your goals later in life.

To learn more about this exciting project, please click on the various tabs above covering our daily assignments.  But first start with the next tab over labeled 'Grades and Rubric' to find out when and how this will be graded.
