Agenda
Today I will...
- identify a research topic I am curious about.
- Start responsibly gathering research sources and notecards on my selected topic.
So I can...
- get started on my research for my reflective project.
- Start diving into my research and be an ethical member of scholarly community (by citing sources).
I'll know I have it when...
- I've conferenced with a teacher and selected a topic that fits the criteria and I feel curious about.
- I have created 2 or more source citations in my Noodletools project and completed 5 or more notecards.
- My notecards all have source citations AND intext citations.
- My quotes are RELEVANT and no more than 3 sentences
- I have paraphrased all my quote and added my thinking.
Today's Tasks:
- Be ready to conference with a teacher on your topic (Orange sheet complete and ready to share)
- Conference on topic and feel ready to commit to the topic you are most excited about
What do I do if I am no ready to commit to a topic yet or haven't conferenced with a teacher yet?
- Build background knowledge and inform yourself about potential topics. This could involve database or web searches. Read as much as you can so that you can make a good choice. Podcasts or reputable videos also count.
I have a topic and have conferenced with a teacher. Now what?
- Find 2 news stories in the databases that relate to your chosen topic
- Watch videos on creating citations in Noodletools for both databases and cite 2 sources you will take notes on
- Read the article through once thoroughly.
- Then cite the article in Noodletools.
- Watch the video on creating notecards in Noodletools and then...
- Reread the article and pull out quotes and make notecards as you go (in noodletools).
- Goal: 5 or more notecards on 2 relevant articles.
