Every National Poetry Month the Academy of American Poets presents Dear Poet, a multimedia education project that invites young people in grades five through twelve to write letters in response to poems written and read by award-winning poets.

The submission period for Dear Poet 2024 is now open until April 22, 2024.
Through this activity you have the opportunity to write to a poet. Listen to or read as many poems as you like; pick 1 that speaks to you. Your teacher will provide a template to write a letter to the poet that created the poem; they will be sending general responses to all students who submit!
