Lewis High School Library Summer Challenge

Journaling Options

Pretend you can write a letter to either:

  1. Your pre-pandemic self or
  2. Your future self after the pandemic

What advice would you give to yourself?  What are the important lessons or information you would share?

Poetry or Song Lyrics:

Traditional Dear Diary

  • Confide your inner thoughts and feelings to your diary.

  • Use the page as your space.  Follow your thoughts where they lead.

Look over the journal prompts in Sulieka Jaouad’s Isolation Journals Find one that you’d like to do.

Time Capsule OpeningCreate a "Snapshot of a day or a week" as a time capsule that captures this moment in history with images or reflections.  You could also consider an object that represents this moment.

 Write, Right, Rite

In your journal, document:

  •  something your grateful or 

  • an act of kindness you’ve witnessed in the world.  

Celebrate a hero in your life or community. 

Honor a hero (big or small) by undefinedwriting a tribute to them in your journal.  This could be a narrative, a thank you note, or form of your choice. 

Submit a suggestion or write your own Book, camping, journal book, travel book icon

36 Hours in… wherever you are  log

Submission instructions: Write 50 words or so about one thing your fellow readers can do over a weekend wherever they are, and why you’re suggesting it.  It might be:

  • An album or a song playlist

  •  A book or movie that transports you

  •  articular recipe you love

  • Podcast episode worth sharing

  • Drawing exercise

  • Religious or spiritual ritual, or service to take part in

  • Taking a walk around your neighborhood

  • Ways to “travel” without traveling

  • Clever way to virtually connect with family and friends
